Hi there.

I have query regarding a problem with 2 of 5 ceiling light/fan units in my house. Some are 3 dropped lights while some are a larger single light unit. In one of each type I have a problem of them repeatedly blowing bulbs.

The 3 drop just blows and is always the same bulb. The single one blows and quite often trips the light fuse at the RCD.

Can I assume a fault is in the fittings or is it more likely in the wiring? both have the screw bulb fitting (SES)

This has been happening regularly since I bought the house 2007. I had a problem with the earth and cross bonding so had new DCU & RCDs fitted 2010 with a check. All seemed OK And he didnt report any apparent wiring concerns.

Any thoughts by any of you bright sparks out there??

Thanks

First guess, cheap bulbs or a loose connection or two. Get decent bulbs and check the fittings.
putty....as OG says its the lamps at fault..try an SES LED type.I assume its the 6A MCB that trips not the RCD.
