To be fair to the chap, pricing something like this can be very difficult. The tiling is easy to estimate, but you really don't know just what the surface is like under the laminate.
Tiles of that size need a good, level surface or they will rock. He may have to coat the floor with floor leveller before he can begin tiling.
To remove the laminate, straighten the floor, and tile, may well take a couple of days. Don't forget that he'll have to return for a third day to grout.
Then there's the bead of sealant around the perimeter. Not essential, but good practice.
At around £200 per day for a good tiler, your figure may well be right. Perhaps you might consider taking up the laminate yourself. Then he can give you a precise quote.
