Are There Any Plumbers On Here?

Had a new Gas Central Heating system fitted just under a year ago. (Council, had no choice)
The boiler constantly looses its water pressure. Had the council out again yesterday to it and they said that they had put something into it that would seal any leaks etc. Think that its BS myself but cant tell yet. (well you cant with council workers can you?)

Any plumber got any idea why this is so? Been here 7 yrs with no problem until the system was changed. Got a Vailent boiler/system now. Its cr ap! Thought that Vailent were good.

Wrong cat I know, but who goes into the subs nowadays?

As the system is only a year old .. daft as it may sound, I expect the system was installed and left in a working condition. The fact that it keeps losing pressure may well suggest that you still have air in the system. Did the installers return and re-bleed the radiators when it lost pressure.. It could well be a leak in the system or maybe the pressure vessel needs to be re-pressurised.
To eliminate air in the system I am afraid it's a case of bleeding the radiators. The presure vessel and the possible leak may well require someone with a bit of knowhow.

You may have a leak in the system (but you'd probably know about it). Or the expansion vessel in the boiler may be faulty. (This deals with the increase in pressure within the system as the CH water heats up). It's a small tank with a dividing membrane, water on one side, air on the other. It may need "pumping up" but it's unusual to see such a failure in 12 months.

We have a Vailant boiler and had the same problem. We’d had some work done on the landing floor. The joiner had put a nail through one of the pipes and caused a leak in the system and this wasn’t obvious until later the next day. The pipe was sorted out and the central heating system has been fine since then.

If they put anti-leak fluid into the system it may invalidate the boiler warranty.

Hi Nailit......same happened to me when I had a new boiler fitted. I was told there was probably a leak somewhere in the pipes under the floors.
B.gas wanted to dig up all the floors to find it...at my expense.
Remembering what we used to do with car radiators I asked if this could be done.....what you've had done I guess.
They agreed and assured me it wouldn't invalidate my warranty but that it could only be done once.
I went ahead....it worked and I've had no problem since. That was in 2011.........x
