Black/Blue palms when cold - why?

I am a sufferer of cold hands and feet and am use to my nails going a blue colour when cold which is probably down to bad circulation. Recently when I am in my hot shower, I make the last couple of minutes cold however when I am finished, my palms are almost transparent and I can see my veins very prominently blue/black through my palms. I also have noticed that the fleshy part of my palm and fingers go black almost like I have got newspaper print all over them Does anyone know why this is happening?? I have been to the docs about it but they never said much about it but as it wasn't occurring at the time they don't know what it looks like. It looks like an 80 year olds hands!

Could it be Raynaud's Disease? This is a disease of the circulation.

sounds like it could indeed be Raynauds disease.... this is where proteins in the blood agglomerate in cold conditions (cold agglutinins), and can block the tiny capillaries serving the extremities such as fingertips and toes.

Can be painful, and if you have a severe form of the disease you need to ensure that your fingers and toes stay reasonably warm, otherwise there is a danger of losing bits of em :)

Definitely go back to your Doc and ask them to check you out with this in mind.
