Photo Compression
1 Answers
Hi, Cananyone explain - simply - how to compress photos in a word document?
The previous explanation I was given does not seem to work. See below. I use Word 2003.
If the photos have been inserted into a Word document then the following action will compress the photos:
1. Double click on any photo in the Word document (this opens the Format Picture dialog box)
2. Select the Picture Tab (In the bottom left hand corner of the Picture Tab Dialog Box is the Compress button)
3. Click on the Compress button
4. In the new Dialog Box select "All pictures in document", "Print", "Compress Pictures" "Delete cropped areas of pictures"
5. Select the OK button on the Compress Dialog Box
6. Select the OK button on the Format Picture Dialog Box
7. Save the document
To check the size of the document go to: File:Properties:General Tab
This should reduce the document file size to something approaching 1Mbyte.
My document size is still 5.1 after this !!!!

I compress/resize using Irfan viewer http://www.irfanview.com/main_download_engl.ht m (go into irfan and edit and resize - 75 for a thumbnail, 500-750 for a reasonable pic) save that as (example) carrie becomes carrie1......go into word doc and insert, say carrie1 and there is the reduced size pic on the word doc. Irfan will resize and compress it.
