domestic concrete floors
Does anyone happen to know to what tolerance a concrete floor should be laid - just had one laid myself - supposedly flat and level - it's neither!

Generally speaking, if the variation is within 1/2 in twenty feet and within 1/4 in in any eight foot area the job is within industry norms. Larger variations would reflect sub par work.
Skim coating of any slab with less than two inches of new material is really not a good idea if the concrete is going to be visible. We have sometimes found it neccessary to grind floors that were excessively wavy, but that is a tedious, expensive, and very very dusty solution.
