Loft insulation
2 Answers
I am buying a house and the initial survey says that there is polestirine loft insulation that will need to be replaced. It is a 1965 three bed semi (average size). Could anyone tell me if this do-able for a DIY imbecile and an estimate cost? Cheers!!

Been a long time since I done one but materials about 100 Sometimes the local council will even give grants for roof insulation.
Before you buy i no the survey says the polystyrene has to be replaced if its the old stuff...I would try and check the sheets and see if any print marks as in kite marks or ask some1 to check the make out before you buy new...As surveys don't look properly and just tick and write...Then do below...
When you say polystyrene i guess you mean sheets if this is the case well very easy just remove them. And as Ratter says it is a very easy job..I wouldn't do it on a warm day as the loft get very hot...Also wear a dusk mask and gloves id also wear a long sleeve top as it can Itch your arms...And there are grants for certain benefits or 65's plus there are grants for different areas for doing and bringing House's in certain areas up to date. This goes for other work on the house as well. No harm in looking and asking in your area as a phone call could save you 100's
And ive looked on B&Q site i would be around the 100 mark but all depends on the size of the house
