Has anyone else had a similar situation arise?

My parents were renting a property and they had to either buy it or move out.
As they could not afford to buy the property, I bought it on the condition they paid half the mortgage.
They did pay half for the first three months, then nothing. I never raised the matter as I doing well ad I could afford to pay.
That was ten years ago.

Now I find myself not able to pay the mortgage alone and asked them to make contributions as originally agreed and their reponse has been to stop communicating with me and go to a solicitor!
They have asked for lots of personal financial information and are not willing to mediate until this is sent to their solicitor. The matter has already dragged on for four months and all the while they continue to live rent-free!

What are my legal rights to make them pay or quit the property?

You have every right to evict them!! Sounds harsh cos they are your parents but they are being equally as harsh to you!! You may lose the house to the bank but it has been awful the way you have been treated!!
YOu could evict them and get in new tennants who will pay rent!! then you may not lose the house after all!!
