House Deeds
My husband has just found out that his name is still on the house deeds, held by his ex-wife, from a house they jointly owned more than 30 years ago. He thought he'd signed over his half in lieu of maintenace for their son. However, when his ex tried to sell the house recently the solicitor told her she would have to give half the money from the sale to her ex, my husband. She withdrew the sale there and then and has been letting the house instead - she owns another house which she lives in. Can my husband force her to sell the house? Does he have a claim on the money from the rental? If he has any claim/rights how does he go about getting it sorted.

All i can say is that he is a money grabbing pig and should stay well clear. God, what else does he want.
I hope he takes it to court - gets nothing and has to pay charges, because that is what will happen when the original maintainance papers come though - so leave alone and get on with your life - grabbers.

Yes he does have claim on the house. He should consult with a solicitior and as the ex doesnt live in the house he can go to court and force a sale.
Your husband is also entitled to half the rental income.
If you husband hasnt been paying maintenance then the ex can go to court for a lump sum payment from his half of the profits. If he has been paying maintenance then she cant do this.
