Wonky windows (double glazed)

When my one of my double -glazed windows is wide open the glazed panel opens on a slant. The top is in line (vertical) but the bottom is on an angle and has to be manually pulled into line with the top. The window company said it is normal for that type of window. Is this normal or are they just fobbing me off?

there's no reason for the windows not to be perfectly square and in line. They are fobbing you off. Ask them for eamples of the same type of window for comparison - maybe in their showroom - or failing that seek legal advice and or citizens advice about geting an independant inspection by another company, asking the original company to put it right at their expense or sueing them for replacement.

Get in touch with Trading Standards or the Citizens Advice Bureau, they should be able to give you some sound advice.

Sorry to disagree but some windows (especially those on upstairs floors) are designed so the hinge 'slides' along top and bottom to allow a larger gap to get your arm through to clean the windows. This can give the appearance of them being skewwiff (sp) when open. This doesn't neccessarily mean all your windows have this feature, 24 flats where I work recently had windows done and some did this and some didn't.
