hi too anyone im 16 yrs old and want to get my own flat i know going on the council list takes ages so im looking at every option ive thought about renting a place and renting a room has anybody been in this situation if so how did u go about it? if anyone has please get back too me

You get a job, you save a deposit and find a flat or bedsit you can afford.

Most landlords require at least a deposit of 3 months' rent and one months' rent in advance.

Then you will need to pay gas, electric, possibly water rates, buy furniture, bedding, crockery, cutlery, saucepans (unless it is furnished). You will need to pay for your internet connection, assuming you have a pc.

It costs a lot of money to live away from the family home at 16 - the wages tend to be quite low.
You have to be at least 18 to enter into a legal agreement such as a tenancy agreement

Ethel - it is unlawful for a landlord to require more than 6 weeks rent as a deposit. I appreciate you are trying to give lilamie a reality check but exaggerating isn't very fair.
