new rear gateway
My neighbour has recently, rebuilt his side wall with the inclusion of a gateway for acces to the rear of his property. Our house is an end terrace which is at the end of his garden, so the new gateway is right next to our house, he has put out cones and put a sign saying no parking in front of these gates. annoying as this was exactly where i park so i can keep an eye my car and wives car. He has 2 gateways at the front and was granted planning permision for the second one because he said he needed to access the rear of his property by using the gap between the side of his house and his wall. So he can access the rear now and doesn't need the extra gateway for access. I've not been able to object since this is an ammendment to existing planning permission. Is this even correct? Is there any legal right he has to say where i park? how legitimate are his cones? can i stop him putting in a drop kerb?

You have no more right to park there than Joe Bloggs. He has no right to stop anybody parking there, unless there is a dropped kerb.
He cannot put in a dropped kerb without permission from the council. You can object to such an application but if it has been granted then there is not much you can do.

Pay the local trouble making kids a tenner to nick his cones and then park there.
Untill he gets a dropped kerb (which he will pay for) he can't do anything so park there for the minute.
Call the council and say he is bumping up the kerb maybe he will get fined and denied the dropped one?
Thats all i can think of

thanks for the answers, this is the latest thing in a long line of general inconsiderate behaviour from this guy. i've decided not to get sucked into getting territorial about parking, i'll just ignore his cones but won't purposefully block his "gateway". Just annoys me, i have enough people telling me what i can and can't do, to come home to some idiot saying where i can and can't park, when he has no right.
