iv been living in my private rened house for just under 2 years. there is no heating in the house what so ever when i took the house the landlord gave me 2 electric heaters from 1 of his other properties. they cost a fortune to run and did not heat the house in the way which was needed the heaters have now broke and i bought halogen heaters but they also cost alot and dont provide enough heat. i have asked my landlord several times if he could put proper heating in it would have to be storage heaters as there is no gas but he just doesnt seem bothered. im just wondering if by law he has to.

Provided he provides some form of heating that is adequate I wouldn't have thought so.

A permenant heat source is preferable but it doesn't have to be cost effective to suit the tenant as such providing it isn't unreasonably extortionate in proportion to the letting.

If your Landlord won't budge then you could try the local council

Or get the Citizen's Advice Bureau to help you approach him but being realistic it may be better to move to somewhere with proper heating rather than get in to dispute with your landlord, especially if it's been the same for 2 years.

You dont have to rent this property.....find somewhere else to live.
