My husband and me have got into a bit of difficulty paying our last winter bill which arrived 4 weeks ago. We told BG we are trying to pay what we can.
My problem is they keep calling us to make a payment.3 times during this week and 4 times today. We haven't answered the phone as we have been out but it does seem they are persistant. We have rang the complaints dept but all they said was the calls would continue until the debt is cleared.
Do they have the right to harrass us this way. If they call us ten times a day it wont make the money appear any quicker.
What can we do?

you need to face up to this and make a manageable arrangement to repay. you owe them money, they're entitled to ask for it.. although I agree that they're pushing their luck :o/
don't pay the phone bill , they can't bug you when your phone gets cut off.

Thanks for assuming I am not taking responsibility for my debt.
We were offered a payment deal but it was too high to accept and they would not go any lower. Only today I paid them 100. Now we only owe them 130.
They are entitled to ask for thier money but not 4 times on one day.
they are entitled to ask for their money as often as they like i'm afraid
all you can do it ignore the calls, dont answer the phone.
Its their money and they can call and ask for it.
Me and Simon just unplug the phone

if the phone calls are offensive or threatening, it is harassment and against the law.
Actually I think they aren't allowed to ask as often as they like. Something to do with harrasment or similar.

Go to cab and get them to help you set a payment plan if you haven't already done so.

Then make this offer again. I would then start dd payments for this amount and then let them take you to court. They will only be shooting themselves in the foot as the court will see you have been making regular payments and give bg a bolocking for wasteing everyones time. When you write with the offer also make sure they don't start or carry on charging interest.

I would seriousely look into their persistant phoneing as I am sure I read somewhere they couldn't do that.

It is only 130. to you a lot but I bet they spend more on phoning you that they recover :)
