help with neighbours trellis

We have a 6 foot fence around our garden and our neighbour has recently put up a trellis above the fence which is a different colour from our fence and looks unsightly. Is this legal to put something up which takes the fence above 6 foot?

Call your local planning department, they will advise. I always understood that you couldn't go higher than metres without permission.
