Relocating Main Electrical Fusebox

Is it a big and costly job for an electrician to relocate the main electrical fusebox. I basically just need it moving from one wall of the integral garage to another. Not sure if it makes any difference but the electricity meter is located externally on the same wall as the fusebox is currently situated. The property is about 14 years old. Any ideas of costs involved would be appreciated. Thank you.

Yes it is a big job because every circuit in the house goes back to the Consumer Unit (CU) so each one has to be disconnected and a piece of new cable attached to the old (if indeed that can be done to a suitable standard). Then the CU is moved to the new location and all the new tail-ends reconnected.
Also the 100A cables coming into the CU have to be rerouted - if indeed that can be done at all.

Cost would be about £50 per extended circuit(up to 3mts)+new cu and install @£250 +25 mm tails and main earth@£15 per mtr + isolator at meter position + any other non compliant issues. For a 3 mtr move for 10 circuits on a TNCS or TNS system it should cost about..................................£795+

(Note a new cu will only be required if the present one does not comply with the 17th edition of the wiring regs.
