I appreciate it is impossible for anyone to give an accurate quote but is it possible for someone to give me a ballpark figure for renewing the guttering and fascia boards on a three bedroomed detached house? TIA BB

Just as a general guide, steel guttering here in the U.S. runs between $3.00 and $4.00 per running foot for 6 inch white installed. This is seamless guttering made on site by the installer. The fascia can be done a couple of ways. First, if it's in good condition consider having it clad in steel that matches the guttering. This is failry simple since, it too is pressed out to length on site by the machine used to form the guttering. That would probably add about another $2.00 per running foot.
The fascia, if rotted or otherwise unuseable can be replaced with new, weather resistant lumber (I use cedar) and the painted. This, due to the carpentering involved, usually runs about $3.00 per foot.
You'll have to do the math on cost conversions...
Good luck!

Thank you Clanad for your reply. I am in the UK but I guess prices here should be similar. I hope so anyway as I was expecting it to be much more costly than that. ;>) BB
we had some prat from safestyle come round a few months ago and they quoted £5000, he was swiftly shown the door !
What just to do the fascias gucci? You're right - what a pr@t!
And did he give you a quote for the door ? :o)

Thank you gucciman for telling me your experience with safestyle. I am on a two week break from tomorrow so I guess I shall have to get myself some quotes. I shan't bother with Safestyle though. :>) Sorry for the late reply; I have had trouble getting online. BB
Mine was 1100 pounds last year, 3 bed detached. Use a local tradesman, not a big company.
agreed the big companies are all as bad as each other, get 3 quotes from local independent firms.

Thanks Vagrant and gucciman. I was talking to the caretaker at school today and he reckons it should be under £1500 to do my house. He also gave me the name of two local people who may be able to do it. So that is my mission during the next two weeks. Thank you again, BB
