'Pro5controller' box mystery

Have moved in to an old house which has a strange box coming out of the wall on a bracket. It seems like a galvanised bos around 8 inches square and a pipe going up into the eaves of the house. On the front is the word PRO5CONTROLLER. Any ideas what this might be? It does look defunct.
