Water Seepage

For some time now I have noticed that the bottom corner of my garden never seems to dry out. Water now seems to be accumulating and slowly spreading. Even after the recent spell of dry weather the water remained. I am aware that a main storm and foul drain runs at the bottom of the property and wonder if one could be fractured. If this is the case who is responsible for the excavation and subsequent repair and how do I determine what in fact the problem is. This is not just surface water not draining away as it was very localised and is now spreading. Look forward to anyones suggestions. Thanks.

If they are on your land they are your responsibility. You can either go through your builsing insurance or get a private CCTV survey done. Your insurance company will get a drainage company out to CCTV drains in that are or check any soakaways are working properly. They will then provide a quote to your insurers and cause of damage to ascertain if it is covered. You will have to pay your excess. If the drains are shared with a neighbour i.e their sewage runs through these drains they will be contacted to pay their share.

................ er ............. always loathe to butt in when DrainBabe is on the case, but there is one circumstance when they may not be your responsibility........... if they are a main sewer and/or storm drain, in which case they'll belong to your local Water Authority.
You can ring them and ask for someone to dig out their drain map of the area. They'll tell you right away if they have adopted them.

yer call local water authority if you want to check, doesnt cost. Builder was supposed to start yesterday but boss was diagnosed with cancer last wk so withdrew offer
