Price of cavity wall insulation
5 Answers
I signed an invoice and agreed a price with a large nationwide company. I have my copy of the invoice. After the insulation being carried out today, I was told it would be £50 more. The installer had his copy, same as my copy BUT someone had crossed out the original price and written a new price over it. Surely, once you have signed to pay a certain price, it cannot be changed without your consent or your new signature. I refused to pay the new price as it was not the price agreed. I have been told I will get a letter from Head Office so I have to wait and see what it says. I cannot believe this is correct, what do other abers think please?

I have no intention of paying this money, how dare someone change the amount after I had signed it. I was hopping mad to be honest more like a bunny than a fox! The work was done with the aid of a government grant, I was told it had gone up since I signed up, so maybe they were not getting such a big sub from the government. Not my problem I don't think. Thanks to all who replied anyway, I have now calmed down and off for a glass of vino.
