changing colour of tiles

we have orangey yellow mosaic tiles in our kitchen which i have never been keen on. it would be expensive to have retiled so wondered if i could paint over the mosaic tiles with a different colour and maybe create a different pattern. i wouldnt mind taking time to paint each individual one if it were to look good. was thinking turquoise or purple but would that cover the orange anyway?!

nb i can truly see me getting a felt tip pen one day and just going round randomnly one day to create new designs, could this be a disaster?

I did our bath room tiles with Sunshine Yellow Tile paint from Wilkinson's a few years ago. It really brightened the place up, particularly when the sun shone in the window.

i dont want the tiles to look like the have painted, it is obvious how it runs into the grooves maybe?

I wouldn't paint tiles.
It's obvious once done.
Why can't you knock off the old ones and do yourself with hand-mades (if you can afford it)
They are forgiving with positioning and wide-joint.

you can buy tile paint, but I wouldn't go there!............not good!.............

i did think that if the tiles were taken off then maybe splashbacks would be cheaper, ive seen some nice ones around, like opaque glass and they screw on the wall. just wasnt too sure about the joins and nor did i take notice of the cost.

Yes I agree about the tile paint. The kitchen tiles in this house were painted when I moved in. Looked terrible. It took me ages to get it off.
