Price of painting a house.

How much would it cost to have the exterior of a 2 storey 4 bedroomed house power-hosed and painted? There is also a wall surrounding the house approx 60m long and 1m high and this also needs power- hosed and painted. Many thanks.

Why does the house require power washing is it algae, dead ivy or something else that needs removing? What is the surface to be painted ?brick,? or some sort of rough finish? Has it been painted before? Will it require any making good before even starting? What sort of access is available to all walls of the house. Will scaffolding be required? Four bedroomed houses come all sorts of shapes and sizes. The same applies to the wall although iI would presume (always dangerous presuming though) that the wall has easy access to and does not have bushes and shrubs up close Does the wall border a pavement?
Sorry to be so negative but I feel that anyone doing the job would need to see it before any idea of price could be given. I would certainly want to view before giving any indication of cost. Contact a local tradesman is my suggestion.

Thanks mrpeter, It's an old house we are thinking of purchasing and hasn't been lived in for about 10 years. It's flaking quite a bit too and It would require some scaffolding. It's in its own grounds and the wall borders a country road. We haven't asked a tradesman yet as we don't want to waste their time. We just want a rough estimate to see if we could afford it in the first place. Thanks again.
All I can tell you is that my decorator charged me £200 a day for the exterior of my house which is a tiny cottage and he did the windows and doors, sanded and 3 coats of paint, which I bought myself. It took 2 days. His price is the same as it was 3 and 6 years ago when he did my 2 previous houses. I guess it depends on how long the job will take I have no idea how much scaffolding or jet washing would cost..A local tradesman will be happy to give you a quote. You won't be wating their time. That's how they get work so give one or two a call.
It would still be better to ask a local tradesman. It would not be considered to be wasting time as lots of tradesmen are asked for rough estimates when anyone is considering buying another house that requires work. This may be plumbers for central heating, electricians and builders. This is the only real way ahead to be sure of what you are going to have to spend after you have bought the place. Or to work out if you can afford the place. Good luck.
