5 frogs have appeared in our pond to lay their eggs and as I am led to believe, after spawning they return to dry land to feed.The only trouble is, our pond is more of a trough shape with high sides and a thick gauge mesh on top (to stop our kids falling in) so I am worried that the frogs won`t be able to climb out again (and the frog babies when they grow up) Any suggestions for what to use as a `ladder`? Or would it be ok to fish them out by hand with a net, or would this upset their natural instincts? This is the first year we have had frogs and don`t want them to die.

I have a few bricks/rocks in my pond, so that the little frogs can climb out when they're ready.

Good luck with your frogspawn. I have fish in one pond and newts in the other, so I very rarely see any baby frogs at all.
Nature is so cruel sometimes.
Apparently a bit of carpet helps - but also helps water eveporate! Baby frogs need grass not stones when they leave the pond or they fry.

Also be wary- frogs always return to the place they were born year after year, so 5 frogs this year will be a lot more next year !! You should remove some of the spawn and take it to a pond or ditch where they are just as likely to survive.
