Regulations for installing a Solid Fuel Fire
My boyfriend is doing up a house and we've bought a Charnwood Cove 2B fireplace
My boyfriend has re-done the partitions in the house to meausurments he'd researched for the restrictions/regulations for this and made a concrete floor for where the fire place will be, then he has bricked up the back of where the fire place will be as he had read this
He is now having doubts after reading many websites. But, all the websites seem to contradict each other
Can anyone advise us on what to do? We do not have a local HETAS to come and check the instulation is safe. I am not a huge DIYer so my information might not be completely the right wording
if anyone can help it would be appreciatied. i think a call to Charnwood tomorrow is needed

Charnwood might tell you if you are lucky. Could also try Building Regs at your local council (I think that they can sign off a job as well as a HETAS engineer).
The Regulations are pretty clear.
"Must be installed by a competent person"
The only thing is .. defining a 'competent person'
I have done a few. Last was a Valor Hamlet, before that a Clearfire.
The chimney construction, flue exit/connection and register plate are the most important bits! Just make sure sealed to reg plate with asb type rope, and exit does not create a hotspot, along with sufficient draw.
