We've had an infestation of moths in the house. They've managed to ruin my best wool double-breasted jacket :-( They've even eaten the carpet in the walk in wardrobe:-((
Anyone got any suggestions for deterring the little b@stards, other than smelly mothballs?

My nose used to be big, then I took up rugby & broke it seven times. The bends took-up the length:-)
lol !
Chunks of cedar wood are supposed to work as moth repellent
Speaking from past experience, you may be better to dispose of the carpet.

We tried that to no avail scotman.
I use a product by a company called ZOOM and its a plastic moth trap with large cut outs all over it so the moths can fly in because they are attracted by the pheramones on the backing which is also sticky and they can't get off and then they die (mwahaha) ...The good thing about it is you can actually see how many moths you have caught so you know its working. It says it last for 4 months but mine seem to go on longer than that - they cost about £5 but they are the only things that work,...

Thank you for your answers. I think we will have to go down the chemical route to get rid of them.

BTW, the carpet is now on the allotment suppressing weeds.
I spray inside the wardrobes regularly with fly spray, shut all the doors, go out for a while. Try not to breathe it in. Then when you come home open the windows for a while. It tends to help get rid of the blessed things. I spray behind the beds and cupboards too and edges of carpets.
