The bulbs in my bathroom light have gone, it says on the fitting only use 15watt PLCE triple turn bulbs. I just googled these and they are nearly £7 each! I have tons of free ones but they are 60 and 75 watt. Does anyone know where I could get the ones I need cheaper than £7? Thanks

Is £7 really that much for a light bulb with a lifespan of 8000-10000 hours, traditional incandescent light bulbs had a lifespan of 1000 to 1500 hours. so you'd have to buy about ten old fashioned bulbs to last the life of one of the new bulbs.

Yeah but the old ones were only 29p!! I thought about it after I posted and they have been in maybe 2 and half years so I guess it isn't as expensive as I thought. For now though until I can get to town I will use candles :-)
Are you replacing incandescent bulbs? - Candles will work and smll better
or can you read bulb spec from end off bulb - no normal bulb will cost that much

It has a warning on the inside of the light fitting Tony saying to use 15 watt PLCE triple turn ones. If using different ones isn't dangerous I will do :-)
without eyeballing I could'nt say - but will do some research
why do you think they are PLCE bulbs?
There won't be enough heat dissipation to allow standard bulbs to be used. best case if you use standard bulbs is they burn out quickly, worst case is it starts a fire.

Use the correct bulbs for the shade!
"why do you think they are PLCE bulbs?"

Because of the sticker on the shade I should imagine!

It says that on the inside of the light fitting Tony. I don't even know what it means.

Thanks Chuck, that's why I haven't stuck anything else in yet, my mam always was so careful with electrical stuff and I used to think she was mad, now i'm older I'm pretty cautious

Thanks albags, I can't seem to see one with a screw fitting but that's probably me... I'm all lightbulbed out. I'll have a proper look after.
chuck - but are they worth £7 a piece?
No modern bulb of this type is worth £7.
All profit, that is.
