Broken electric shower..

Our electric shower in the house has stopped working and before I call in an electrician (to save being ripped off) I was wondering if anybody could advise me what the problem may be. The shower isn't turning on and it is as if there is no electricity getting to it, as the pull cord where it is turned on the light isn't coming on we thought that the fuse had gone in it but it has a trip switch rather than the a fuse! (hope that makes sense!)

If anybody could help what the problem may be or if the shower is just shot.

Many thanks :)

Glad somebody noticed the light on the switch isn't coming on!

It's either trip switch, cabling between trip and ceiling switch, or the ceiling switch itself.

Try looking at the fuse box to see if there has been a trip, might just bew a case of flicking the switch back up!
Kaff - you might need a plumber rather than electrian - should be own feed - not trippd in consumer unit?
Tonyv, if the pull cord light isn`t coming on surely the fault is before the plumbing?

I`m with jd, try the circuit board to see if it`s tripped

the switch is in the on position! Do you think would it be a big job to get fixed? One thing after another :(
If the mcb is at fault cost could be £45 inc.....if its the pull switch cost could be £50 inc.
It may be a loose connection.. £40

awh thats not too bad :) many thanks to all answers
ok we have all decided that it is an lectric problem then?
Yes tony...if there`s no power getting to the pull cord then we can rule out a plumbing fault
Tony ..........no light at pull switch....yes it could be the plumbing.....but not in my world!!
Could even be the pull switch itself, Kaffryn. They can easily get stuck. That would be a cheap repair. :o)
LOL, yep forgot about that! Lost count of how many times I had to take the switch apart in my last flat!
