housework - have no problem mucking out a million stables, cleaning kennels or poo picking the horses fields - but house work ughhhhh
Question Author
carmalee is there one that you find particularly irksome, i never know why my attempts at changing the duvet cover always goes so spectacularly wrong, one day im sure i will disappear into it, like a black hole, never to be seen again
Ironing, but thankfully I have bobjugs well trained.
ironing then - I simply don't do it - haven't for years and years - fortunately the wind blows a bit across Romney Marsh and clothes come in beautifully crease free!
Question Author
a tip i learned about ironing was if you haven't time, or don't want to do it, stick the item in the bath room for a bit, keep the door closed, so when you have a bath/shower the steam will get most creases out.
Cleaning windows. Apart from getting washed when it rains they haven't been touched for about 10 years.
most of it, i find it all pretty pointless and boring, however in the lead in "God, I hate you" jobs is washing up.
At the moment it's hovering....mainly because I hate the hoover we have.

Changing the bed as well. I wash the bed covers and pillow cases together, fold and put away....but when I go to get them for the bed change I'm always a pillow case missing and end up having to get the whole lot out...
Exactly my point Boo - you do it once, get the place all cleaning and sparkling then you have to turn around and do it again next year any way - pointless

i tried cleaning the widows once, until i nearly fell out, and my old hoover had a mind of its own, i went one way, it went the other, most of what i had managed to hoover up, it coughed, spluttered and spat it all back out.
Question Author
typo oh dear, supposed to say windows, not widows....not tried that one yet.
you need to do your duvet cover inside out and use pegs for your corners. try it it will change your life!
oh, and i hate t changing bunk beds, washing letuuce and grating cheese.
i love cleaning windows!
If one day I can afford to again I will pay someone to do my ironing. They'll be pleased with the money and I'll be free of its tyranny!
What about unravelling and matching up socks after they've been washed? What a waste of valuable life!
As for the duvet - I saw a trick on TV: turn its cover inside out. Put your arms on the 'inside' right up to and hold the corners at the closed end - then pick up the corners of the duvet and drop the cover down over it - except I have to stand on the bed or else drop it over the landing railings to get enough height! I bet someone must have posted how to do this on YouTube.
that's it! as above, except when you've grabbed the corners, slam on a clothes peg and it'll hold fast while you shake the cover doen. I used to do mine over the landing bannister but now live in a bungalow! I keep two pegs in my bedside drawer.
Hoovering.
Washing the dishes.
Drying the dishes.
Putting the dishes away.
Dusting.
Cleaning.
Any form of manual labour around the house.
Gardening.

I quite like doing the laundry and am a whizz with changing duvets/beds.

I will never be a domestic goddess.
My birthday is in October and I had a wonderful card last year - "Good heavens it must be time to dust - it can't October again already"

So very very true. A friend once wrote on the dust in a china cabinet of mine, and that was about 3 years ago and the writing's still there!
I do do housework, but only when absolutely essential!!
I usually end up inside the Cover with the Duvet on the outside.....must try harder !!
hellywelly you need the fridge magenet....I don't mind you commenting on the dust - just please don't write in it
Hoovering stairs! the dogs hairs seem to bed in....i can stand and iron for hours but hate putting it away afterwards
