My mother's glasses have all of a sudden gotten very smudgy and a bit scraped looking. I don't know if it is something which has gotten onto the glasses or something which has been taken off the glasses. Does anyone know anything that can be used to help clean them up a bit?

I always wash mine fairly regularly in warm water with a bit of Fairy liquid - mine have an anti scratch coating but it doesn't seem to affect that - dry um off with a soft cloth
yes washing liquid is best for glasses ive used lots of so called "cleaners" in the past for specs and have never got them as clear as the washing liquid has
NEVER use a "Mr muscle" type of window cleaner on glasses with anti-reflective coating on, it will damage the coating and remove it over a short time
Additionally, if they're plastic lenses (as opposed to mineral glass) don't use paper towels to dry them... the paper towels have strands of material that can scratch softer plastic lenses and over time the small scratches lead to clouding of the lenses... use 100% soft cotton cloth...
Mr M's glasses have got a funny purply, cloudy sheen on them lately, he's due new ones and will ask at the opticians about them. I wondered if it was the anti scratch coming off.
