is this suitable for nailing feather edge boards ? and what size nails should i use ?.

15mm brads or 14mm staples wouldn't be long enough, Webbers. Even if you're only fixing the head of the board (hidden bit), then I still think you need 30mm.
If you're nailing the bottom edge, then 40mm galvanised clout nails/slate nails or staples.
You'll love all the splitting : )

Use sheradised (no rust staining and corrosion) and nail so they are 'lost'.
If you have a lot to do, hire a gun.
