next One mans junk is another mans treasure. Do you use your local Freecycle site and recycling centre?

We've got them everywhere round here as it's a forestry/farmland area. They are a b....y nuisance, but handsome birds. They nick my chicken's food whenever possible, so I bought one of those plastic hawks to sit on the fence - useless, even though I move it about each day. They ignore cd's after a day of twinkling & even climb into the chicken house & pinch the eggs if they get the chance. Tough netting & vigilance keeps them out but they do make a hell of a din on the roof when they argue & have punch ups! But they share our world so we just have to live & let live!

Our local library put seven large plastic owls on their roof corners to scare off the seagulls - yeah, right.

I absolutely hate magpies. They have been waiting for the blackbird chicks to hatch and then raided the nest. It's really sad to see the parent birds unable to do anything to stop them. I just clap my hands when they alight on the tree, I bet the neighbours think I'm potty.
