I have an orange and a lemon plant in my garden. The garden is very sheltered and both survived the winter wrapped in 'plant cosies'. They both look healthy and they have been regularly fed with citrus feed during the Spring and early summer. Neither are showing any signs of flowering at this stage. Should I be concerned and is there anything I can do about it??
I too bought a couple of lemon trees. They both had lemons on at the time, about 5 years ago.
I fed them properly and pampered them over winter and they continued to look very healthy. They still look healthy 5 years on, but not a lemon have I had off them.
Many others I have spoken to have had the same problem.
possibly not hot enough for long enough in the summer... and they really should be indoors during the winter... our forebears built their orangeries for a good reason to bring their citrus plants in for the period the late autumn to Early spring .
Thanks Hc4361 and rowanwitch. The plants were sold as failsafe for UK and I guess I may have been too optimistic. Suppose they are not helped by this awful 'Summer'. Keeping fingers crossed though........
