It depends how fussy a gardener you are or how much money you want to spend buying every different food type for different plants you have.
Miracle-Gro is composed of Nitrogen (28%) Phosporus (8%) and Potassium (16%) so the markings on the bag wood look like 28-8-16.... This is fairly high on the Nitorgen side, which is desirable for lawns but not necessarily for other plants... especially root crops like carrots, onions and beets... chances are you'd only get good top growth and perhaps not much in the way of root.
