Broken washing machine?

The band keeps falling off whilst doing the washing, and so the bin doesn't spin! My friend takes the back off and puts it back on, but it always comes off again. Is it time to get a new machine, or can this be repaired by a specialist? Thanks

Or the bearings are worn out or come loose...

If you open the door and grab hold of the inner drum (the shiny metal bit that the washing goes in) and try to wobble it about from side to side and back and forth it should move with a smooth/damped movement, if you can feel any looseness or knocking the bearings have a problem.
Is it very noisy? does it spin the water out as well as it used to ?
It does sound like the belt, can you see if it is shiny? If it starts to slip, it will warm up, expand and fall off.
Phone the makers. tell them serial no/ of machine & ask if they can supply a new one. Your friend can put it on for you.
Cheaper than a new machine, you don't need a srecialist.

google eSpares. Excellent prices and delivery plus there are helpful How to do it videos on many repairs
Seems like the belt has stretched but also could be needs adjusting simply by moving the motor on its adjustable mounts to tighten it.
While at it change the motor brushes too. Easy to do and will save taking it all apart again soon when it stops spinning!
Some machines have a tensioner which is spring loaded, check this or tension the belt by moving the motor.
