Doe it leak before or after flushing?
Perhaps the ballcock in your cistern needs adjusting, it might not be stopping the flow of water as it should, leading to the water level overflowing through the outlet pipe.
The cistern, which is the box to which the flush handle is attached has a lid, simply lift it off and have alook what is happening when you flush it. The ballcock - the floating ball- is on arm which has a screw at its neck, tighten this slightly and it will prevent the ball from rising too high and your problem will be over.
