Hi all. on 14/6/11 my expensive immaculate motorcycle got stollen, my son heard the comotion woke me and gave chase to the 2 thieves running at full speed with my bike, they got round the corner and dropped it knowing we was giving chase, a lot of damage was caused over £1000. I phoned the police fair for them they came within a couple of minutes.. that was it they said they would be round to take statement= it never happened, 2 weeks later evidence was found by my son and his mate of one of the culprits . i went to the police station explained this to them they said the case had been closed. i insisted that it was not closed they said someone will be round tomorrow for a statement. Again it never happened. now the thieves have got away and i'm left with a very expensive bill (3rd party fire and theft)so i can't claim
Who do i complain to? can i claim criminal damage?
Thanks in advance Wayne

You could try the IPCC, but don't hold your breath.

Too difficult for plod - they would have to do some work!! Easier nicking you for smoking in a restricted place!!
When I was in the police a letter from an MP invarably got the attention of the Chief Constable to whom it was addressed and not merely an acknowledgement from his staff officer. Sugget you write to your MP who in turn will write to the appropriate Chief Constable. The CC initiates enquiries to be answered by a certain date and then replies to the MP. Give it a try.
Hi pistonbroke

Have you contacted the police for an explanation since?.

If you do not get any joy then telephone the station and ask to speak to the Duty Inspector.
Either pistonbroke lives within the same policing area as I – or this police apathy looks like it’s a countrywide thing.
Hymie, Its countrywide, depending on what crime / incident you are reporting.
well if they can' be bothered investigating phone hacking properly..........
Even if the police caught them and they were charged, I very much doubt you'd have much chance of getting any money back for damages
I meant to add- I like your user name
<<2 weeks later evidence was found by my son and his mate of one of the culprits>>

So what was that evidence? If it was a bit of hearsay they'd probably discount it
isn't there an institution call the POLICE COMPLAINTS COMMISION ?
