Basically I need some building work done and want to use reputable builders or tradesmen. I can remember using a site once which helped narrow the search and also included references submitted by people who had work done, but I can't remember the name. Or alternatively any general recommendation site where people have been happy with what has been done (or not).

I use Which? Local, but think you have to be a Which? subscriber to access the information.

I used the Federation of Master Builders website:

(then go to Find a Builder), for a drain repair job, and I was pleased with the work that was done. You enter details of your job on the site, and any interested builder will get in touch.
