Yet again, parking has become an issue with the man next door. Had the van parked on the drive and my car across the dropped curve yesterday - got note on car saying 'dont park here, what if I wanted to get my trail out, etc'. Man does not have a dropped curve and the police told us (last time they came round about the parking that we could prk tint outside his house if we wanted to).

Now that my husband has gone to work, bloke next door has moved his car and trailer from his drive (round the corner where he is not in any ones way) and parked them outside his house. Opposite house are having their drive done so there are building materials, etc on pavement and slightly on the road (fair play - they have got to go somewhere and it is only for a short time).

Man next door knows I can't get past his car because of this stuff a d is trying to force me to knock his door to ask him to move so he can have a go at me (he doesn't have a go at men - that's why he has waited for my husband to go to work).

Why be so childish? Don't know if I should ring the police about it (they are getting used to coming round about the parking but I have never complained before) or wait for my husband to have a word with him (which might result in the police coming around for a different reason).

Sorry, rant over (ps - I rained on his parade by going to the local shop - that's probably really annoyed him.)

Careful Sherrard. I got a right earbashing when I moaned on here recently about a mans childish antics when it came to parking.

It is beyond me why people have to be so peti with these things. Why can't he just open his mouth and speak to you.
Annoying as it is....He has the right to park in front of his house as you do.

I'd get hubby to have a word....I really would.
leave a note on his car? do you have a shared drive or something?
I missed out the word *same
i don't know why people get so fed up about parking. We have a layby outside our house that isn't private, but if anyone else parks there my husband goes mental. It's just a bit of road!

Sorry all - he moved his car on purpose to block the road (it is a narrow road and he knows I can't get past, therefore focing me to ask him to move it). He is known to the police for his 'ways' and is genally regarded as a bit of a nutter. I don't care who parks where (have posted about the parking around here before) it is just the pettyness of it.
But Sherrard you DO care hence the rantings about everything from people's kids eating to someone parking outside his own house. I'm not a mean person but you do sound awfully het up about little things, why not just try to not care quite so much what other people do and assume they've doen it to tick you off, because in my experience most people don't deiberately wind anyone up by irritating parking, it's usually all down to a simple problem with logistics.
dont suppose you know anyone in the local fire service do you? take photos to show them of him blocking the road to restrict vehicle access.

NOX - he has done it on purpose. He has a problem with everyone and everything. I don't care whe people park provided that everyone can get their car down the street I couldn't give a stuff! I have a big car and would normally drive up onto the pavement but, as I said, there are building materials on the pavement so I cant do that. Since we have lived here it has been constant compromise (on my our part) over the parking. Not sure how my previous rant about the way kids eat has got anything to do with it.

Redcrx - thats a thought, friends husband is in the fire service, will have a think about it.
The only reason I mentioned your previous rant is because it was precisely that- a rant. It just demonstrates that you care about what other people do- the little things. If this guy has blocked the road, politely ask him to move- especially if you are right and he HAS done it on purpose because then he's been called on it and inconvenienced, but don't be calling the police and making a mountain out of a molehill or you really will be getting his back up and then he'll park anywhere just to tick you off.
I don't believe anyone has a right to park outside their house. As I understand it the road is for public use and is used on a first come first served basis. It has to be so, or otherwise when you reach your destination there is no where to park - you have to turn around and go back home again. I believe a dropped kerb allows one to commandeer the public road outside for your own use, although I can't say I've looked into the legalities. It is one reason I'm against the council allowing all these gardens to be dug up and used as if they were drives. It basically seems to be stealing public road for private use. If a dwelling wasn't designed for a drive, then it ought not have an inappropriate one squeezed in retrospectively.

NOX - he is known to only confront women with any issues that he has, even though his problem is largely to do with the way my husband parks. He is too chicken Sugar to confront him so has engineered the situation to force me to knock on his door. He has even painted a line down the pavement and road showing which is 'his' bit. I suppose I could go around and let him shout at me in front of my children but don't really fancy it. As to my other rant that you refer to it, it was just that, a rant. I have seen plenty of other rants about how people pronounce words, sayings that are annoying, actors who get on peoples nerves, poor service in shops, etc. We're all allowed a rant now and then.

Old-geezer - he can park outside his house, not a problem. It is the fact that he has blocked the road on purpose that is irritating.
Understood. My woman has a similar problem with her neighbours parking outside her place.

On a different note, it is amazing how one can find a second instance of IE open, showing the AB site, when one knows for sure they've only opened one instance of IE. Sorry for the unrelated comment, and thanks Ed ;-)
wont other people need to get past?
I would say that I can see and agree Nox's point.

I would also say that as ummmm said in the second post on here, he has the same rights as you regardless of whether it's petty or not.

With all of these situations, you have to know the full story and see the parking situation, etc. Yes, other people do have to get by and they have managed to squeeze by but I have a wider car than they do. Anyway, wish I handn't bothered posting this in the first place as it seems only some people are allowed to rant about certain subjects, anyone else is just seen as a moaner.
you can rant about what you want sherr - just that by getting wound up by it you are playing into the silly neighbours hands :) All you can hope for is that someone tries to squeeze by and accidentally scrapes his car

i don't really get the first bit of your post - if he put a note on your car does that mean that you blocked him in yesterday?
ps - could you go the other way out of the road?

Hi Bednobs - hadn't blocked him in, just parked accross the front of our house, not on his 'bit'. He has a trailer on his front garden and he put in the note that he wants to be able to move it when he likes - don't know what his problem is, nought as strange as folk.
