Put food out for the neighbour's cats. You'll get the pleasure of their company and they'll no longer crap in your garden. (They'll go somewhere else, well away from the food).
Solution number 2:
Get your own cat. It will scare the other cats away and crap in someone else's garden.

I haven't looked at Chris's links but I do remember this question being asked before and the answer was.......lion poo.
I guess you put it on your garden and the cats think, 'Cripes, aint no way I'm gonna cr@p around here, I'm taking no chances against big bu88ers like that!' Something to do with territory-marking perhaps?
Dunno whether it does actually work though. :o/

Easy, Get a dog, or borrow one for a few days. once a cats been seen off by a dog it avoids that garden like the plague. I have two neighbours cats that drive me mad, they climb the trees in my garden and take the baby birds, sit in the field at the end of the garden and stalk pheaseants, then dig up the FRONT garden and poo everywhere. now, after the dog episode, they will not walk past my house, they cross the road then come back over to a neighbours garden.
I am an animal friendly person, but these cats ( brother and sister) are thrown out each morning to do whatever cats do all day, and obviously they don't do it in their own garden.

My two best friends are cats - but I can understand why someone would get annoyed at visiting cats using their garden as a latrine.
You have to scare them off - no method is going to be certain for every cat so you will just have to try trial and error. Soaking them with something like a sprinkler is a good idea.
But the mischievous side of me thinks that it is amusing that these animals (usually weighing less than a stone in weight) can bully and wind-up humans and be very successful in (usually) winning each battle.
Good luck and may the best human/feline win.
