Hi there folks

My TV went kaputt last night (luckily the old one in the bedroom) and I was just about to put it in my wheelie bin (bin collection today) and then I suddenly thought I should check to see if I can dump it in the bin or whether I have to dispose of it in a special way.

I'm sure you guys will now :-)

You need to take it to the local Council Skip to be disposed of properly.
Don't put it in the wheelie bin it might implode in the bin wagon which will cause a massive bang cause major panic and disruption whilst it is investigated. I'm assuming it's a cathode ray tube type. Te it to the tip where there will be a section for it.
I've taken TVs to the tip before now. Expect your car reg to be on camera on the way in. IMO the council ought to cover such removal as part of the rates we pay for public services. Not holding my breath though, they can't even supply the basic weekly rubbish collection any more.

Superb - will take it to the tip. My binmen do weekly colelctions and are the best!! I live on my own and they have even helped me get an old bed down the stairs (holding up the village traffic whilst they did ooops) and put that in the cart.

They are the dogs whatsits.

But will take to the tip. x
EU regs require all electrical items to be disposed of separately. Your council waste site will have separate sections for electricals and for old TVs.
