"Board residence"
15 Answers
Hi, all
I have found a brass plate saying 'Board Residence' in the attic. I would like to know if anyone can tell me when this expression went out of favour. I have found one reference to a house in Bournemouth in 1938.
The second question is - how on earth do I clean it? At the moment, I have coated the back of it in tomato ketchup, which seems to be doing something. Given that it may be pre-war, you can imagine the state it's in.
Where are Kim and Aggie!
Many thanks

Thank you all for your suggestions - I have stuck with the tomato ketchup, brasso and elbow grease for the moment as I couldn't get to the shop for a lemon and have only a scraping of mayonnaise.
I have until Christmas Eve (sorry for mentioning that) to finish it.
Everyone who comes in also has a go at it, and it's beginning to look OK.
Thanks again!
