When wallpapering is it necessary for any kind of lining paper to be put up

Paper up to the corner then mark the exact line by gently pressing in the paper making a crease, peel it back and cut neatly along the crease line and then pat it into the corner angle.
Provided the wall is not crumbling you should be OK papering straight on, but if in doubt it always helps to size the wall first with a PVA solution and let it dry. Even if the wall is perfect you get a better result by sizing the wall with paste before you paper.

You should mark the corner as you say .. with a crease visible .. or pencil line.
Then you should trim the cut edge 5-10mm (extra) from that line, so it will fit around the corner ... wet, without puckering up.
Then place the matching paper into the corner cut exactly matching pattern and repeat if/as required.
