URGENT Flat with no communal aerial

We are nearing exchange/completion on ground floor flat in area due to go digital in 2012. We have ascertained there is no cable facility and satellite dishes are not allowed. At the eleventh hour we have discovered there is no rooftop or communal TV aerial and that the 8 flats (2 each on 4 floors) in a 1989 purpose built block, each used indoor aerials.

Can someone please advise if there will be a problem at the digital switchover next year. We were not bothered about lack of cable/satellite services but we do want to be able to watch tv.

Also given this, would we be better with BT vision as a way of getting phone/broadband/tv - although BT's web page states connection required to a rooftop aerial.

I will contact their help line when they open up later.

Do you know if Virgin operate in the area? Fibre optic broadband which virgin uses requires neither a dish or a rooftop aerial. You could ask other residents how they receive a TV signal given that they are already in that situation.

ask the people who are in the flat what they use, if they watch tv or not.

Virgin cable is not available. Apparently other flats use indoor aerials. The flat is empty and we live over 200 miles away so cannot talk to other residents before we complete.

Does this mean one can't be installed?

The lease stipulates no rooftop aerial or dishes. The residents Association has the power to amend the lease, so will contact to see what they are going to do come the switchover. Meanwhile will have to make do with indoor. We currently live in a bungalow in an area that has already switched. We have a loft aerial for main TV but use an indoor one for one bedroom. It's ok so will have to hope the same will be true 200+ miles north!

I use an indoor aerial with built in signal booster like this one in my room.
Works a treat!!
