My freezer was, by accident, left slightly ajar last night and a bit of defrosting has occured and lots of clear ice has formed. Some items appear to have defrosted slightly but I just want to know if they are safe to keep or should I bin them as I know you shouldn't re-freeze food once defrosted.

Thanks grs,

Most of it was bread and veg. No dog I'm afraid and I don't think my cats will be too pleased with a veg meal.

The other food was stuff I'd pre-cooked for Little Tiggs and portioned off but that seems to be ok.
if it's bread and veg then it will be absolutely fine to refreeze, just stuff it back in again. It's things like chicken and fish that you souldn't refreeze.

Thanks Box, the chicken, fish and other meats were at the back and seemed fine :o)
As gsr600 says, most of us have done similar at some time. I found that the "lots of clear ice" was perfectly OK in my G&T.
Bread and veg. may suffer a bit re quality but will be perfectly safe.
