i have found more beetles in my house... id hoped id got rid of them all but they have reappeared.

is there some substance i can spray around on stuff that will be safe to me but will kill them and their larvae?

or is there a sort of pesticide bomb thing, that i can set off and leave the house and come back and all is safe and sorted...?

the house is too big and old and full of stuff to get into every nook and cranny to do much.

i will after ive treated it block up all the holes i think

theyre carpet beetles and fur beetles.

thanks

joko I found a few insects in our spare room. I think they are carpet beetles ugh! Not sure where they came from but we have a chimney (blocked off) but it was used by jackdaws nesting for a couple of years. I'm going spare have a look at these to see if they are any good:

All your carpets containing natural fibres will need to be spray treated or no matter what method you use they will be back next year, it is only a contact spray killer that will eradicate them.
Can they do damage if they are not treated?
Yes a lot of damage, they will strip all the natural fibres out of every carpet in the house eventually, they tend to work around the edges of the carpets first.
Bloody hell. I haven't got any byw...I was just wondering if Joko was going to have to clear the rooms :-(

thanks AYG
mine came from a bunch of cut flowers i received, and possibly also from pigeons in the roof
thanks ratter ill do that too then...god i've got 9 rooms, and 3 floors of hallways/stairs to do... its going to cost me a packet!
We seem to be a bit touchy-feely when it comes to controlling pests. If you know anyone travelling in from Australia they have some stuff call Mortein that takes care of the mad beasties they have living in their crevices. It leaves a residue to discourage any re-invasion too.
I'm just not sure if it would be legal to give it as a gift.

how do you know if you have natural fibre carpets?

they were here when i moved in and probably were here a while before...but i do have a lot of rugs
I think all carpets have a certain amount of natural fibres.
Have you thought of steam cleaning all of the rugs & carpets? It wont do any harm & I'm sure beetles & their larva wont be able to live through a dose of steam.
