New Electric kettle giving backtaste

Just got hold of a new Russell Hobbs electric kettle. Nothing fancy - just a bog standard metal bodied 1.5 litre job.

I boiled it four times before use.

Now when it comes to making tea and coffee both my OH and I say there is a backtaste. Not sure what it is. I say 'metal' she says 'no' but a definite backtaste.

Any advice from ABers welcome otherwise it might mean a trip back to the shop!!!

There s a similar thread to this posted not long after your own. There seems to be an opinion that new kettles do take a while to "settle down". Have to say that although it has been a while since I last bought a new one, I don't recall any initial "bad taste" period.

try boiling it with some bicarb solution leave it to get cold then rinse well

its plastic, you need to clean t like rowanwitch says and it should go if it dosnt take it backx
