anyone remeber how do do it by ajusting the spokes ? i've lost my good old readers diggest house repair book

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.Set the wheel up so you can turn it freely and check the degree of warp against a fixed point. If it's much more than about a centimetre out I would take it to an expert wheelbuilder or buy a new wheel as truing bike wheels is a skilled job. If it's not far out of true then you need a tool called a nipple key or spoke key. Pluck the spokes to give you an idea of which ones are not in tension and turn the threaded nipples where the spokes enter the rims a little at a time to increase or decrease the tension on the spokes. Slowly and carefully work round and across the wheel until it is true and all spokes are in equal tension. Not easy.
