Ayone know any good steam cleaner that remove stains, we've got stains on our new carpet (4 months ols) from drins and stuff piuring on it. I want to buy a steam cleaner that will hopefully melt away/remove the stains.  Does anyone know any good ones not too expensive?

Woolworths do a good little steam cleaner at a cost of around 30, I bought one and have cleaned oven furniture and tiles with it
hire one ! i used one called "rug doctor" u wouldnt believe the $hit that came out of the carpets.
i had a steam cleaner which was okay..but if you have a lot of stains you should get on your knees with a damp cloth and a dry cloth and a can of vanish carpet stain remover and gently wipe the stain with the damp cloth after you have sprayed the vanish on to it then get the dry cloth and blot the stain dont spread it ..if the stain is large put old towels over the area when you have sprayed and blotted and you may find the stain will appear on your towels..then you can steam at a later date..i did that in my hall way as the steam cleaner seemed to spread the dirt so i blotted it up ..i had to do it twice and leave the towels down overnight but it came up clean..
I have a Polti and to tell the truth am very disappointed.  It doesn't appear to get rid of stains.  It does make me feel that the house, carpets, mattresses et al are sanitized and that makes me a perfect mother (bit like an advert really)  Mine cost 250 but I don't think it was worth it.

Thank you all, I'll try cleaning them first.  Any tried and tested vanish/stain removers?  I tried some which didn't work.
