Hi all,

I need some sweet peas and hyachinths for some flower arrangements, are these something that florists stock as a matter of course or do you think I will need to go in prior and ask them to order them specially?

They don't normally flower at the same season of the year. so you may have to import some specially. Sounds expensive
Agree, hyacinths are out now, nearly over in fact. Sweet peas won't be in flower until the height of summer, why must you have both?

Because they are my fav flowers and I want both is some arrangements I am doing.

I have found M&S have some and I found a florist online that do them but it will cost £60 for enough to do what I want - may have to rethink it!
There will be a minimum quantity for a special order as the florist may not be able to buy just one or two bunches from their wholesaler Also the weight of the hyacinths may look quite clumsy against the delicacy of the sweet peas and the sap from the hyacinths tends to make other things in the container die off really fast...

Sorry I may have misled you - the hyacinths will be in one display and the SP in another - they are trad flowers for an Edwardwian wedding I am helping with.
The Edwardians would generally only had flowers in season and nothing like the varieties we have now the sweet peas would be the short stemmed small flowered highly scented ones the hyacinths would be in the soft pastel shades with heads far less dense more like a bushy bluebell
