There are plans for the Royal Mail to be able to leave parcels, mail with a neighbour if you are out, instead of the card they sometimes leave. I wouldn't be particularly happy with that at all considering most of the neighbours are either out at work, or away. If a parcel goes missing, or is damaged, who is responsible.

it says that it will not be possible to select which neighbour receives your parcel, and postmen will also not be obliged to try each neighbour to accept it.

not sure mamy, as i was reading this earlier in my paper. See if i can find one. Though not sure who would be responsible, i had a parcel signed for by a neighbour, and i had no idea who it was as the signature was illegible.

If your neighbour's out, they obviously wont (can't) leave the parcel with them. Plus if they do leave it with them, they put a card through your door telling you which neighbour (house number) it's left with.

i won't do it as i don't want to be responsible if there is a problem with the goods, or packaging.

It suits me. I already take in parcels for most of my neighbours in our road anyway. I live in a cul-de-sac and theres only ten houses in our road. so its fine.

I often take in parcels for neighbours. You can request a sticker to go on your door or postbox saying you don't want to be part of the scheme (when it's implemented)

I have one of these things outside my front door. I got it as a present so don't know the exact price paid but it was less than £88. My postie is great and she sticks packages in it and most, but not all, courier services willingly put parcels in it.

I will quite happily collect from local depot.

My neighbours are always quite happy to accept parcels and i often do it for them.Probably depends on what sort of neighbours you have!! Better than leaving it in the blue paper bin.

Seriously though, if I know a parcel's coming, I leave a note on my door for the postie to take it round the back and leave it by the back door, which works for me.

Not many weeks go by that i don't take in a delivery for someone, even occasionally next doors Tesco order if he is stuck on the train home, we do it for each other and so far no problem.
